Numbers

The numbers are overwhelming, everchanging.
They come and go, they rise and fall,
Watched over eternally by those who take authority.
No right to rule over their choices,
No time to explain their needs -
Just numbers, as long as there are plenty, it does not matter,
No individuals, just numbers.

No problems will arise to those who control
Those who need to be controlled.
No expectations should be made by those
Who are to be judged.
But who has the right to judge them?

Oh, of course! The ones who have to decide their future,
Kill their every hope.
It doesn't matter, the numbers are not human,
They are lifeless, soulless copies, creations,
Beings they don't need to worry about.
What does it take to be a number?

Not much - I'm already there.
